Hi, I’m Ursula Carstens
I am a Clinical Psychologist with the privilege of over 12 years’ experience working alongside children, adolescents, adults, and their families. My work is grounded in evidence-based practice and a holistic, trauma-informed understanding of individuals within the context of their relationships, environments, and current stage of life.
I support people of all ages who may be experiencing anxiety, emotional or behavioural difficulties, challenges with nervous system regulation, or the impact of stress and change. I also work with individuals and families seeking assessment and diagnostic clarification, including where there are questions around neurodiversity. I understand that this process can feel overwhelming—whether you are a parent navigating this for your child, or an adult finally seeking answers for yourself—and I aim to provide clarity, care, and thoughtful guidance throughout.
My approach is integrated, affirming, and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic and assessment frameworks to support each person’s individual needs. I focus on understanding the meaning behind behaviours and coping strategies, supporting emotional wellbeing, and strengthening development in ways that feel respectful, practical, and achievable. Difference is always approached with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement.
My goal is to help you or your child feel deeply understood and supported. Whether we are working to make sense of your own experiences, or collaborating so you can better understand your child’s needs, I aim to provide clear insight, meaningful recommendations, and support that continues to be helpful long after you leave the therapy space.
